What is this journey?

There are so many people with stories to tell.

Like my dad.

He’s the inspiration for this newsletter. (And now writes one of his own!)

Years ago, he collected some of his memories in a self-published book called Journeys. 📖 It’s full of vivid stories powered by deeply felt emotions that roll off the page and tug at the heart. Reading through it, I got the sense of knowing him for the first time in my life.

And I realized how important it is to preserve our stories. 💌

History books don’t capture the moments in time that characterize our everyday lives. Academic texts don’t give a sense of what it’s like to be a mom raising kids in wartime or a kid growing up in the heady daze of the 1960s. Those musty hardcovers from our school days don’t lay bare the true history of individual experiences behind names and dates. 📅

So, in a way, I’m continuing my dad’s journey to tell those kinds of stories: stories that invite others to share in life’s past moments and travel along as new realizations come to light. 💡

I welcome you to walk with me down this road as I explore my stories—and the ongoing story of life.
